Punjab police have filed 245 cases against individuals involved in kite making and flying

Punjab police have taken decisive action against kite flying activities, registering 245 cases and apprehending 242 individuals across the province within the past 24 hours, according to ARY News on Tuesday.

This intensified crackdown follows the tragic death of a youth in Faisalabad due to a kite string, prompting swift directives from CM Maryam Nawaz. In their operations, law enforcement recovered over 54,000 kites and 800 strings from those arrested.

Over the last month

, the police have been proactive, arresting 3,233 individuals and filing more than 3,100 cases related to kite flying offenses.

Additionally, authorities have uncovered an online network facilitating kite sales and apprehended five suspects in connection with a fatal incident in Faisalabad. CPO Muhammad Ali Zia revealed that Asif Shafiq lost his life on the Novelty overhead bridge in Factory Area due to a string injury. 

CCTV footage aided in tracing the culprit, Muhammad Abid Gujjar of Sir Syed Town, who was flying a kite from the rooftop of Punjab Bank on the day of the incident.
