2024 By-election Update: PML-N Ahead in NA and Provincial Seats

Islamabad: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Emerges Ahead in 2024 By-Election

PML-N has taken the lead in the 2024 by-election, which took place on Sunday across 21 national and provincial seats. Unofficial results indicate PML-N's success in two National Assembly seats, with one seat each secured by the Sunni Ittehad Council, Pakistan People’s Party, and an independent candidate.

In the Punjab Assembly, PML-N secured nine out of 12 vacant seats, while Pakist

an People’s Party, Pakistan Muslim League-Q, and Istekham-e-Pakistan Party each won one seat. Balochistan Assembly saw one seat each claimed by PML-N and Balochistan National Party.

The by-elections, held without interruption from 8 AM to 5 PM, saw participation from various parties and candidates. <

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif congratulated the winners, emphasizing that PML-N's victory reflects the people's trust and signals a shift in public opinion due to economic improvements and relief efforts.

He highlighted the positive impact of international financial institutions' predictions and news organizations' reports on economic progress, stressing the need for cooperation and political dialogue to address electoral process shortcomings and objections.
