ISLAMABAD: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is set to convene in Islamabad this Tuesday to observe the Shawwal-ul-Mukarram moon.

Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, the Committee's chairman, will lead the session.

Representatives from key institutions, including the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Pakistan Meteorological Department, and the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission, will join the meeting.

Zonal representatives from Islamabad, Lahore, Ka

rachi, Quetta, and Peshawar will partake in the discussions.

Highlighting the significance of community participation, Maulana Azad has called upon the public to partake in the moon sighting for Shawwal-ul-Mukarram.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted that the Shawwal moon may be visible across Pakistan on April 9.

The PMD anticipates the new Shawwal moon to appear on April 8 at 11:21 pm local time.

By April 9, the moon will be 19 to 20 hours old and is expected to be visible for approximately 50 minutes post-sunset, according to the weather department.

Should the moon be sighted on April 9, Eidul Fitr will be observed on Wednesday, April 10.

In anticipation of Eidul Fitr, marking the culmination of Ramadan, the federal government has declared a five-day public holiday.
