LAHORE - Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and a former prime minister, is scheduled to arrive in Quetta today (Tuesday) and will spend two days in Balochistan to strengthen his party's organization and create new coalitions in the province in preparation for the next elections.

During his travel to Balochistan, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif would be accompanied by Maryam Nawaz, the top organizer of the party, with the aim of finalizing a seat

-adjustment agreement with the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), now headed by Khalid Magsi.

The party from Balochistan had broken away from the PTI-led government coalition, which had made it possible for a no-confidence resolution to be successful and send Shehbaz to the prime minister's office for a 16-month term.

The PML-N struck a similar arrangement with the MQM-P last week in Sindh, and now talks are underway to expand the electoral cooperation to include other parties like the JUI-F and Pir Pagara's PML-F. This agreement with the BAP is the next in line.

Also, Nawaz is anticipated to meet with more than 20 well-known political figures, some of whom are expected to join the PML-N, improving the party's chances in the general elections scheduled for February 8.

The visit also carries a great deal of symbolic meaning because it was in Balochistan that his government fell, following the resignation of then-chief minister Sanaullah Zehri due to a shift in party loyalties and shifting alliances.
