The unopposed election of Pakistan People’s Party's Aseefa Bhutto Zardari from NA-207 Nawabshah has been legally contested in the Sindh High Court (SHC).

PTI’s Mustafa Rind filed a petition in the high court alleging that his nomination papers were rejected after he was abducted.

He urged the court to nullify the notification of Aseefa Bhutto’s uncontested election and called for by-elections on April 21.

Aseefa Bhutto won the National Assem

bly seat from Shaheed Benazirabad (Nawabshah), which became vacant after her father Asif Ali Zardari was elected as the 14th President of Pakistan.

Initially, 11 candidates submitted their nomination papers for the by-election, but only four, including Aseefa Zardari, had their papers approved after scrutiny.

Aseefa, who actively participated in PPP's electoral campaign, made her political debut at a PPP rally in Multan on November 30, 2020.
