ISLAMABAD: With the formidable challenges ahead following the formation of the PTI-led opposition alliance, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is poised to renew its plea for the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to join the federal cabinet.

Last month, the PPP had pledged support for the PML-N's candidate for the prime ministerial position but opted not to participate in the federal government.

Insiders disclosed that Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and other senior PML-N

figures are scheduled to meet with PPP leadership to extend the invitation to join the federal cabinet.

However, the PPP remains divided over joining the cabinet led by Shehbaz Sharif, having declined similar offers twice before.

In a high-level meeting last month, chaired by PML-N's leader Nawaz Sharif and attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, it was decided to once again approach the PPP for inclusion in the federal cabinet.

Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed his intention to discuss the matter with Zardari following his election as president.
